The Bowes Lyon Suite
One of our favourite suites, the Bowes Lyon derives its name from the late Queen Mother’s family and is adjacent to the Day Nursery where Her Majesty, Queen Elizabeth II and Princess Margaret used to play whilst holidaying here as children.
Generously furnished, with twin-aspects and over 650ft² of space, the suite enjoys a very private setting, with fascinating views of the original Castle section of the Mansion House - dating from 1480.
History is all around you in this suite. On the original castellations of the Castle, you’ll see the historic Carberry bell - rung to communicate specific messages to Estate workers in the past and now, often rung by the private Family who own Carberry Tower Mansion House and Estate, to herald times of great celebration.
You may also catch a glimpse of the fire basket on the western corner of the Castle ramparts; historically used as a warning beacon and more recently, lit as part of the National Beacon celebrations, to mark the late Queen Elizabeth II’s platinum jubilee in 2022.
With a spacious en suite, including a separate shower and double-ended bath, if we do say so ourselves, the Bowes Lyon suite is really rather glorious.
For your added comfort, along with gorgeous Noble Isle products in the bathroom, soft bath robes and spa slippers are provided, as well as a Zenius Nespresso coffee machine, with a selection of delicious pods and teas for your enjoyment.
And should you wish to order drinks or dine in the suite - perhaps before snuggling down to enjoy a good movie on the large flatscreen TV, private room service is also available.
For larger families or groups, additional full-size single beds can be added to the suite by our Housekeeping team.

With over 650ft² of space to relax in, from the richly carved four-poster bed, to the marble lamps and plush furniture, the modern en suite with a separate shower and double-ended bath, adds a final flourish to what is a truly splendid suite.
